Our history

VALENCISO was born in 1998 when we, Luis Valentín and Carmen Enciso, joined our surnames to make a single wine in the winery of our dreams in La Rioja Alta, where we are from. With the know-how and international vision acquired after 15 years of shared work in the management of a prestigious winery in the Rioja Alavesa.

Philosophy of the winery

We chose cement tanks for winemaking because they respect the vividness and benefit its longevity. The aging in French oak barrels gives it elegance and richness.

The founders

To fulfil our dream we established the winery in Ollauri, a beautiful town with a winemaking tradition in the north of the Rioja Alta, where the influence of the Atlantic climate favours the fineness of the Tempranillo grape, the characteristic and exclusive variety of most VALENCISO wines. The wines are the result of the demanding organic cultivation of our vineyards. We have a great team: Ana, Ana, Ángel, Antonio, Antonio, Diego, Endika, Ignacio and Jesús. Some have been with us from the beginning, trusted in what was just a project and today are part of the history of VALENCISO, others have been born among the vineyards and take care of ours with the knowledge of generations, and others have a lot of international and national experience in the world of wine. They all share commitment, work and efficiency. Without them VALENCISO would not be possible.

An organic vineyard

All our payments are organically grown. We lower the production, 5,000 kilos/ha, to guarantee the high quality that is obtained with low yields. We looked after our vineyards in sustainable viticulture until in 2017 we started the conversion to organic.

A renowned winery

VALENCISO is part of Grandes Pagos de España,an association that brings together some thirty of the best wineries in the country. We also belong to the Asociación de Bodegas por la Calidad ABC Rioja, a professional association of 9 of the most prestigious wineries in La Rioja.
